The St. Vincent and the Grenadines Tourism Authority requires a suitable professional to fill the position of Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

Job Profile:

The CEO is responsible for the overall management of the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Tourism Authority, a State Corporation which operates locally and internationally in a strategic approach to attract visitors, optimize tourism expenditure and sustain a competitive St. Vincent and the Grenadines tourism product. The CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board of Directors.

Responsibilities include:

  • The overall direction and effective operation of the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Tourism Authority, including all of its employees and other resources at home and abroad.
  • Providing advice and recommendations to the Ministry of Tourism and the Board of Directors on policy and strategic matters relating to the growth and sustainability of Regional and International Travel and Tourism.
  • Implementing such strategic plans as approved by the Board of Directors.
  • Ensuring that accurate accounts and records are maintained by the Authority in the context of evaluation of performance of the Authority and its employees.
  • Ensuring that annual budgets are prepared and managed.
  • Establishing and maintaining relationships with the local and international travel and tourism industry stakeholders in the interest of product improvement and marketing of the destination.
  • Maintaining close working partnerships with local and regional private and public sector, SVG Recreation Marine Association, including but not limited to the Hotel & Tourism Association (HTA), the Caribbean Hotel Association (CHA) and the Caribbean Tourism Organisation (CTO).
  • Communicating with Government Ministries, public sector agencies, and appropriate community groups and individuals on matters related to tourism and its importance to national development.

Qualifications and Experience:

Candidates should have attained at least a first degree from a reputable University with not less than ten (10) years working experience, five (5) of which should have been in a proven leadership position within the Tourism industry. A higher degree would be an asset. Familiarity with the St. Vincent and the Grenadines and Caribbean tourism product, along with strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential. Compensation will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
