January, 2012 - Study Abroad Programme visit to Dominica
Dr Anthony Seraphin, DAAS member and Associate Professor, Mathematical Sciences at the University of Delaware brought a 16 member group of students on a one month Study Abroad Programme visit to Dominica to include courses in Geography, Conservation of Natural Resources, and Economics of Agriculture and Natural Resources. In addition to class room lectures the students went on many expeditions all over the island including the waterfalls, hot springs, the Botanic Gardens, the Boiling Lake, Morne Diablotin, OID Fish Farm, etc. Dr Clayton Shillingford gave two guest lectures to the students ..one on "Agriculture, Banana Production and International Trade" and the other on "The Environmental Factors and Plant Communities of Dominica".
January, 2012 - Gifts from Ms Gillian Shillingford
Under the DAAS umbrella a gift of children's and adult's clothing, educational toys and play things (bicycles etc) valued at EC$1200 was shipped to Dominica. The gifts were kind donation from Dr Clayton Shillingford's daughter, Ms Gillian Shillingford - Palacios.
