To: Dominica Associations Chairpersons
Dear Colleagues:
Saturday, July 17, 2004 - Some of you may recall in an earlier communication I sent an introductory letter to you as the Co-ordinator of the newly formed Dominica Worldwide Association (DWA), an Affiliate of the Dominica Academy of Arts and Sciences (DAAS).
Now, as I concentrate more fully as the Coordinator, I welcome all our Dominica Associations already registered in our Directory and to invite and encourage any other Dominica Associations, Clubs and organizations not yet registered to please do so. In a nutshell, (DWA) is an Affiliate of the Dominica Academy of Arts and Sciences with the main objectives of maintaining a Directory of Associations and organizations and providing an electronic meeting place for all Dominican Associations and organisations around the world.
(DWA) aspires to keep Dominicans in contact with one another through its network of Dominica Associations and other organized groups that represent Dominicans overseas and at home. We can do this by linking at one central location so Dominicans anywhere can read what their fellow countrymen are doing. In addition, by registering your organizations with the Dominica Worldwide Associations (DWA), they will automatically receive much more exposure and your events and activities will reach a wider section of Dominicans, including the (400 plus) members of the DAAS.
I would like to make it perfectly understood, that registering your Association, Club or organization with DWA does not in any way encroach on the autonomy of your organization. Your members are governed by your Association's Constitution. DWA is only a website that attempts to bring all of the Dominica Associations and organizations under one networking umbrella, but does not seek any control over the registered Associations and organizations. You will be the ones telling DWA what you would like others to know about your organization. Share with other Dominicans a bit of your organization, your Executive, your members, your activities, how you are affected by what is going on in around where you live, etc. Dominicans do appreciate having the latest news about other fellow Dominicans.
I am looking forward to working with each of you as the Dominica Worldwide Associations (DWA) ventures to bring Dominicans around the Globe closer together.
