Note:    Raglan Riviere, DAAS cofounder and committed webmaster for 15 years, passed away on July 6, 2015.  His daughter, Jacqueline Pearson, maintained her Dad's legacy by creating this current DAAS website while preserving the original content.  Please also visit the    Dominica Botanic Gardens.

RAGLAN SELF-PUBLISHING STUDIO

Dominican-born, educated at the Dominica Grammar School, studied in UK, had a tour of duty in the British Royal Air Force, Raglan holds the B.Sc.(Sociology, London U) and MHA (Health Administration, Ottawa U). He has always been fascinated by the structures and processes which give life to society. 'Rumpunch & Prejudice', his first published novel, is one example of this fervour.

I chose the route of Self-Publishing for the same reasons that several authors do today:
  • New writers continue to struggle for recognition regardless of how good their work. This breeds frustration
  • Without the support of an established writer, whose work is sometimes inferior to yours, your submissions suffer numerous rejections as an unknown
  • The technology for self-publishing has so improved that anyone can enter the book production business at relatively little cost
  • Finally, as a writer, I enjoy full control of and responsibility for my work.
